Another Round of New Contract Highs for Cattle Futures
Cattle futures post another new contract high with significant psychological levels just a stone’s throw away. All eyes on the cash markets and tomorrows Federal Reserve meeting
Live Cattle (June)
Another new contract high was posted in yesterday’s trade, this one with more conviction than what we’ve seen over the last week. Trade volume in the June contract was lighter than what we saw in the prior three sessions. Technical resistance levels are largely out the window with all eyes on momentum and the cash market. We outlined a few psychological barriers on our radar yesterday, 215 and 218. On the flip side, 210-211 will need to be defended to avoid a round of profit taking. We will also be watching the outside markets this week. Yesterday snapped the longest winning streak since 2004 with the Federal Reserve meeting on-deck tomorrow. Risk-on has been the path of least resistance over the last several weeks. Tomorrow’s Fed meeting could keep that alive or flip it back to a risk-off tone.
Resistance: 215*, 218*
Pivot: 210.00-211.00
Support: 207.72-208.25***, 203.25-204.20**
