Livestock markets were choppy last week and with outside market volatility on the rise, that could spill over into this week’s livestock trade.

Live Cattle
Technicals (December – Z)
December live cattle futures were able to stage a rally on Friday, taking prices back near our pivot pocket from 187.25-187.72. This pocket was previous support and will now act as resistance. A failure to chew through and close above this pocket could keep the Bears in control of the technical landscape. Support comes in from 183.40-184.10. Outside market volatility could be a key player in today’s price action.

November feeder cattle were lower on Friday but managed to recover and finish the day back in positive territory and right near the 100-day moving average. Outside market volatility could be a key player in today’s price action.

Lean Hogs
Technicals (December – Z)
December lean hogs had an impressive back half of the week, trading well off the lows from Wednesday. The market has rallied back near a few of the major moving averages which we referenced in last Thursday’s interviews, with the 50 and 100 day moving averages coming in from 74.00-74.40. These may act as resistance on the first test.
